Searchers looking for a man missing in the sea near Hastings have been stood down for the day.
The man got into trouble on Friday afternoon at 3pm at Ocean Beach, said police.
A large search, including a plane and helicopter, police search and rescue teams and Hawke's Bay surf lifesavers, has been underway since then, stopping overnight before starting again this morning.
The man was last seen around 300 metres north of where he entered the water.
The search will continue tomorrow.
