More to come in league betting scandal

Australian rugby league's season will again begin under a cloud, following the arrests of leading player manager Sam Ayoub and former-player John Elias after a police investigation into betting into suspicious betting activity, and there could be further bombshells.

The Sydney Morning Herald understands additional information relating to the games between the Bulldogs and the Cowboys last August is likely to come to light quickly, just a week out from the NRL premiership kickoff.

Elias and Ayoub were charged with attempting to obtain financial advantage by deception, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment.
