Solomon Islands is yet to confirm China as a diplomatic ally after ties with Taiwan ended on Monday.
Taipei severed the 36-year relationship after the Solomon Islands government endorsed a report to recognise China instead.
But the government had yet to formally action anything and a news conference by the Prime Minister was scrapped on Monday afternoon.
A political scientist at the University of Hawaii, Tarcisius Kabutaulaka, told Mackenzie Smith Solomon Islands is on its own for the moment.
