Every 10 years, an international conference for small island developing states (SIDS) is held to assess their capabilities in achieving sustainable development.

According to the United Nations, small island developing states are economically, environmentally and socially vulnerable to shocks over which they have little or no control.

The three geographical regions in which SIDS are located are the Caribbean, the Pacific, and the Atlantic, Indian Ocean and South China Sea (AIS).

The last conference was held in 2014 in Samoa.

This year the fourth edition to the conference is in Antigua and Barbuda where a 10-year action plan is being developed.

RNZ Pacific's Tiana Haxton spoke to some of the Pacific delegates at the conference.
