1:15 New 'flying ferries' set to transform transport options in NZ

The future of coastal transport may have arrived.

Kiwi company Ocean Flyer has just signed a $700 million dollar deal for 25 electric sea-gliders, which are, essentially, flying ferries.

They're looking to make passenger transport available for 2025, with multiple routes including one from Wellington to Christchurch that would take about an hour and cost 60 dollars per seat.

1:40 Plans unveiled for Wellington City library upgrade and strengthening

Exciting times for Wellington central with the plans unveiled this week for the  188 million dollar upgrade of the city's library.

The design includes giving the building the required earthquake strengthening as well as a massive make over, incorporating more light and openness.

To talk about the struggle to save the building, the new design and the challenges making sure the library can stand up to any seismic activity, Architect Institute president, Judi Keith-Brown joins Wallace on the show.

1:50 Disability transport survey reveals widespread discrimination

A survey of 300 people with disabilities revealed mass discrimination when it comes to transport services.

Many in wheelchairs or with service animals reported being grossly overcharged or having their rides cancelled, and many women respondents reported sexual harassment and abuse.

Two business partners who have first-hand experience with this have decided to do something about it, raising money to launch an app and provide transport specifically for those with different physical capabilities.

3:35 Critter of the Week The Hoodwinker Sunfish

This week's critter is the Hoodwinker Sunfish, a large fish found in the southern waters around New Zealand and South America. They can grow up to 3 metres in length and weigh up to 2 tones. They are one of three sunfish species and only recently discovered in 2008.
