The proposed $387 million investment in New Zealand Rugby by American equity giant Silver Lake could be a step closer today.
It's being voted on today New Zealand Rugby's annual general meeting. But it's hinging on the players saying yes to the deal - so far the Rugby Players' Association is yet to give its approval.
The union argues the move could ruin the team's relationship with fans, and has said New Zealand Rugby's Maori and Pasifika culture is "not for sale".
But the deal's being called a lifeline for provincial rugby - in desperate need of cash.
