Court case over surgeons owning private radiology companies

Doctors are heading to court to stop surgeons owning private radiology companies that do medical scans.

They argue there's a 'dangerous' conflict of interest that could see patients referred for treatment they don't need.

RNZ can reveal the bitter fight has broken out at the same time as more than a billion dollars has been pouring into private radiology for the last year.

A hearing set down for today at the High Court in Wellington has been postponed - the Institute of Independent Radiologists wants the court to order ACC to stop what it sees as soft-pedalling over conflicts of interest
