Claire Jankelson - South African Film Festival

This may be the new face of film festivals. The fifth annual South African Film Festival will get some cinema exposure in Sydney and Melbourne, but it's mainly showing on-line. It's also releasing here in New Zealand, if only digitally. So what you lose on the red carpets and the real-life conversations after the movie, you do gain on a whole lot of titles you may not have even known existed. I certainly didn't, and my knowledge of the current South African film scene is based on just one movie - Living, directed by South African Oliver Hermanus, which I loved.
