Police said officers tried to pull over a stolen vehicle traveling on Waltham Road near the city centre at about 1am.

The car would not pull over and instead fled from police.

Spikes were laid on Pages Road on the other side of town.

The car hit them and eventually came to a stop on nearby Hawke Street in New Brighton.

The two teenagers, one boy and one girl, were taken into custody and have since been referred to Youth Aid.
