A severe weather forecast for the South Island could herald the end of the golden weather.
Metservice says heavy rain is on its way and predicts up to half a metre of rain could fall in the ranges from Wednesday to Friday, with the potential for flooding, disruption to transport, and hazardous conditions for trampers.
