Pacific health leader Sir Collin Tukuitonga, has been appointed to work for the World Health Organisation.

After resigning from all New Zealand government groups citing no confidence, he will now be chairing the Advisory Group on the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases (STAG-NCD).

Sir Collin says he will give advice on how to best manage obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and other noncommunicable diseases that affect Māori and Pacific communities disproportionately.

He spoke with RNZ Pacific's Eleisha Foon about how his new role will see him reviewing evidence from around the world on diseases that disproportionately impact pacific people.
